Successful lecture and awarded image

I am very proud and happy to announce that an image of mine was awarded at the prestigious "GDT Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2013" award. Back in Germany, I was invited to give a talk about nature photography, which was a big success as well!

Just a few days after my arrival from Antarctica I was invited to lecture at the Fernweh festival in Erlangen, which belongs to the biggest travel- and outdoor-events in Germany. There, I talked about nature photography: about "my way" of doing things, about composition, technical know-how as well as answering questions from the audience. An amazing number of guests were very keen on participating actively: it was a wonderful morning that I enjoyed very much! Thank you, Erlangen! :-)

As busy as my life is at this very moment, I do not involve myself in too many photographic competitions - it's fun, but unfortunately quite time-consuming, too. Therefore I am even more happy to tell you that, again, a picture of mine was awarded a price at the prestigious "GDT Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2013" award.

This nature photography competition is one of the biggest of its kind: this year, more than 1000 photographers from 32 nations submitted more than 16.500 pictures, hoping to make it to the final round. I am thrilled that my favorite picture of the Eyjafjallajökull eruption was "highly commended" in the landscape category. What an honour! I can only urge you to have a look at the winning pictures: it's an inspirational feast for the eye!
